A UNITARIAN CHURCH workshop:

10-Steps to personal resilience & empowerment in a chaotic climate

Recognizing our shared vision of gathering people together to bravely and compassionately search for meaning and build a just, equitable, and relational world, Good Grief Network is partnering with Unitarian Universalist Church congregations in California to bring our 10-Step Program to the UU community.

If you find yourself:
Struggling to cope during these unprecedented times…
Wanting to build emotional intelligence and personal resilience…
Yearning for new ways to invest your time & energy into meaningful action…

This group is for you.

“This past spring, I was able to participate virtually in the Good Grief Network’s 10-Step program. Each week, I joined 13 other amazing humans to process our difficult emotions about climate change, examine our own privilege, and build individual and community resilience. This was hands-down the most helpful resource I’ve experienced to navigate climate anxiety.”

I think the connection aspect of the group and non-judgmental space that is held in the group for people to openly say how they feel and be able to learn and grow from other perspectives is an incredibly useful tool. I am so glad to have found this group!

The 10-Steps left me with a greater understanding of myself as well as questions I will continue to work with. I also gained an understanding of the intersection between personal and planetary resilience and a sense of hope that this community can create the new paradigm.

Good Grief Network has helped me metabolize a build-up of climate grief that was leading to burn out and downshifting. Participating in the Good Grief Network is helping me continue my climate activism with more balance, resilience, and presence.

Good Grief Network’s 10-Step Program is a peer-to-peer support group where people come together for two hours a week, over 10 weeks, to build community, process our feelings, and co-vision new futures. Similar to other Step Programs, these meetings will follow one step per week. However, you do not need to have attended previous meetings to participate; our fluid drop-in format invites you to attend whichever meetings and topics call to you.

Each group is facilitated by both a trained Good Grief Network facilitator and a Unitarian Universalist; this is not a therapy program.

In this space, our facilitators will create a brave and emergent container where each participant can explore what it means to be alive in this unprecedented moment. We will face and process our feelings with others, commit to self-exploration and healing, engage with new perspectives, and identify meaningful actions each of us can take.

Good Grief Network does not offer specific prescribed advice; rather, we practice deep listening and bear witness to each other on our journeys. Cheryl Richardson says, “People start to heal the moment they feel heard.” We are here to promote connection and encourage the emergence of beauty and joy during the Great Unraveling.
